Okay, I think collecting season is about to pick up for me. This year’s hockey is starting to arrive, I’m going to the Methuen/Salem card show for the first time since the start of summer (and Brad Park will be signing), and I start getting a regular paycheck again.
The big kickoff, though, is the fact that I was able to score a chunk of Allen & Ginter minis (Wordsmiths, Sailors, and Lords of Olympus) that I’ve been searching for today at my local card shop.
Check it out…
BOW BEFORE THE LORDS OF OLYMPUS! Zeus and Poseidon are obviously awesome dudes, but their brother Hades was the man, man.
Poor Ponce de Leon; the Fountain of Youth is Mountain Dew. If only he knew that!
I like Poe well enough, but I feel like there are other guys I would have liked to see represent American literature. How about Hawthorne or Melville? Or more current like Fitzgerald or Salinger? No love for Emerson or Thoreau? How about we get some ladies up in this piece and include Alcott, O’Conner, or Walker. I’d give just about anything for a Langston Hughes card. Just sayin’.
Also, I’d rather have a Sun Tzu card over a Shen Kuo card. Sadly, I don’t even know who Kuo is and I have a degree in literature and work as a librarian.
Please check out my want list for ones I still need. Also, I’m still trying to build the Champ’s Historical Figures set, so any help there would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, these mini cards are way better than the Champ’s Natural History / Wonders of the World / Etc. cards. I’d much rather have cards of Zeus and Edgar Allen Poe.
How much is Brad Park charging to sign autographs? Would you consider getting a specific card signed for me by Park?
Sal-
Park is charging $12 which I think is a steal for a HOFer. If you can get me something before Sunday, I will get it signed for you. Let me know and I’ll email you my address.
Whoops! I forgot to check this thread. Stupid me. I want to get an 81-82 Topps card signed by Park. Maybe next year…
