There are two spots left in my contest (18 and 20), so whoever hasn’t signed up, sign up! Those who have, tell a friend. It’ll be a shame when I can’t assign someone like Horton or Bergeron to a person.
Here is just a fraction of the “stuff” I’ll be giving away…
As you can see, there will be a healthy dose of rookie cards from (somewhat) defining players of ’80′s baseball, random hoops, some football, and a bunch of hockey autographs.
Guys, I seriously have a 6″ stack of cards to give away, so get excited!
Before I get to this contest I am going to host, I want to tell everyone that I am a bad collector.
Why?
Well, let me explain. About 22 minutes ago, an eBay auction for a Upper Deck The Cup Printing Plate Autograph of Adam McQuaid ended.
As you can see, it went for a measly $35. That is slightly more than what I paid for his regular Cup autograph card. I am a bad collector because I didn’t win it. Not only did I not win it, I didn’t even bid on it. And this was after following it since its listing. See, I was at my parents visiting. I left so that I would be home about 30 minutes before the auction ended. I pull into my parking spot and realize that I left my house keys at my parents; this was at 7:35. The auction was set to end at right around 8:00., my parents live 15 minutes away if I haul ass.
Do the math.
I am so upset with myself. I don’t deserve to be a McQuaid fan.
So there is that.
But, let’s turn our attention to a contest. I have a rather large stack of memorabilia and autograph cards from all sports that I have no use for. Additionally, the NHL season is set to kick off in under two weeks. Well, that makes a perfect storm for a contest. So here goes…
Each team has a 23 man active roster. For this contest, goalies don’t matter, so really we are dealing with 21 spots. Contestants will pick a number from 1-21. For the Bruins opening day roster, each player will randomly be assigned a number from random.org. Your number equals your Boston Bruins player.
Here is how you win. Whoever scores the first goal for the Bruins, wins. Whoever gets the first assist on that first goal for the Bruins, wins. Whoever gets the second assist on that first goal for the Bruins, wins. And whoever gets the first fighting major for the Bruins wins.
So, there could be up to four winners or as few as one. Wait, what? As few as one? Yes. If Milan Lucic scores an unassisted goal and is the first to drop the gloves, whoever has him wins all the prizes. If Nathan Horton scores a goal with the help of Bergeron and Chara, all three of those players win, plus whoever drops the gloves. If there are no fights, goals or assists in the first game, the contest carries over to the second.
Make sense?
I’ll post pictures of prizes soon, but enter now with a comment and number.
