Me

I am a librarian at a high school. I love hockey fights. I am left-handed. These are things about me. This is who I am. My name is Casey.

Collecting Cards

I began collecting cards during the summer of ’86; I was nine. I grew up a Red Sox fan and my  favorite player was and is Marty Barrett. I have been collecting off and (mostly) on ever since. My  dad and his friend opened the first sports card store in the area sometime in 1988. They stuck  around until 1992 and packed it in because there got to be too many brands/cards and they  couldn’t keep up. Anyways, I got out of collecting shortly after that for basically the same reasons.  Also, I was a teenager and other things preoccupied my time. I sold most of my cards and used  the money to pay for a majority of my college tuition.

I didn’t get back into collecting until ’98 on a whim. I opened a pack of ’98 Bowman football, pulled  a Randy Moss rookie, and was back in the game. I started collecting all the sports all over again. I  focused on rookies and that was it. Then jersey, autographs, serial numbered cards, expensive packs, and all the other things that made initially made me run from the hobby emerged. I decided to focus my collection solely on hockey cards. I sold and traded all my other cards and have been collecting hockey ever since. My collection consists mostly of cards of Hall of Famers and enforcers. I’m trying to get on-card autographs of each HOFer who has one (check out my want list!) I also like collecting enforcers and vintage cards of HOFers. Oh, and I collect vintage Bruins cards.

Sometimes I buy packs of other sports if I’m bored. If I ever hit anything decent, I will put it up here for trade.

This Blog

I’ve been reading a few sports card blogs and have been having a tough time finding a good hockey one so I decided to start one. It’ll mostly feature cards from my collection and new additions. I might do the occasional box break, but it’ll be of lower-end product because I just don’t buy into the higher-end scene. I have grad tuition to pay and can’t afford $300 lottery tickets. I’d rather just seek out what I need. Anyways, I hope you enjoy my cards and I look forward to possibly meeting some other hockey card collectors.
